April 21, 2010 - January 27, 2022 - forever loved, sorely missed
Molson was a wonderful boy with a sweet temperament and loved hanging out with his "mom" Bronwyn. He also enjoyed spending time with his extended dog family: Weim Vedder, and Field Spaniels Sydney and Frankie. Molson loved the water, and he was a natural swimmer and loved the going boating.
Molson completed his championship (CH) at the 2012 Temiskaming Show. Molson earned his Canine Good Neighbour (CGN) designation in May 2012 at Goldnote Training. Molson had multiple Best of Breeds and Best of Opposite Sex over many large entries. He was almost always Owner Handled by Bronwyn MacDonald (once shown by Hailey Griffith to a lovely 2-point Best of Breed win (breed entry of 5), all other points (CH and GCH) were earned when he was owner-handled by Bronwyn. Molson achieved his Rally Novice title in early August 2013 at the Barrie Kennel & Obedience Club show. We are very proud of this boy's accomplishments. Molson was a very well rounded boy. Molson achieved his URO1 Rally title with the UKC (United Kennel Club) in 3 consecutive trials with scores of 94, 94 and 92. We are so happy with how well this boy does, and how well rounded he is. Molson achieved his UKC Conformation Championship in October 2014 with a Best of Breed win. He achieved Total Dog points for having won 2 Best of Breeds (earning Conformation Qualifying Competition Win) and getting 2 Rally Qualifying Scores in the same day at the August Grand River Kennel Club UKC shows. Molson was a proven sire, having sired his first litter of 6 healthy pups (5 girls, 1 boy) in September 2012. His daughter "Lexus" (CH Instar's Pursuit of Perfection), completed her Canadian Championship in two shows, and another of his daughters "Grace" (Instar's Too Busy Being Fabulous) earned 6 points towards her championship, but has since been retired from the ring. Both were shown on a limited basis. His second litter consisted of 9 very robust puppies (5 boys and 4 girls). His daughter Scout (CH Instar's Adventure is Waiting), finished her Canadian Championship before she was a year, and is well on her way to her Grand Championship with both majors already earned. She also achieved her CGN, TT, and her FDJ titles. His third litter was a litter of 5, out-crossed to a female imported from the UK. They are all great looking dogs, one is working in obedience, and another is out training in the bird field with his dad and showing fantastic promise. Molson has now been retired from the Conformation ring, as he earned his Canadian Grand Championship (GCH) with a Best of Breed and Best of Opposite placements at the Georgina show in November 2014. Molson finished tied for the #1 Weimaraner in the United Kennel Club with extremely limited showing - he only showed 2.5 weekends in 2014. Molson earned his Temperament Test (TT) designation in October 2014 on a cold and windy day. We had a lot of fun - it was Bronwyn's first time participating in and watching a TT, and it was interesting to see all of the dogs that turned out and the different reactions. Molson earned the first two legs towards his FDJ (Field Dog Junior) title in September 2016. Molson achieved his final leg to complete his FDJ title in September 2017. He is a very well-rounded boy, who enjoys being with his human and doing all sorts of different activities. Molson came back out to play in the show ring as a veteran at the August 2017 UKC shows in Rockton, and earned a Best Veteran in Multi-Breed show. So proud of the old man, and he was very happy to get to play in the ring again. Molson earned his Versatility rating from the Weimaraner Association of Canada in 2017, for titling in 3 different venues (Rally Obedience, Conformation and Field). I am so proud of this achievement, we worked very hard to earn it. Molson has been retired from breeding and is now neutered. He will likely come out to play in the Altered and the Veteran rings to play occasionally with Bronwyn. Molson earned his Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced Trick Dog Titles through Kyra Sundance's Do More With Your Dog, in 2019. You sure can teach an old dog new tricks! Molson is loving life retired as a couch potato and woods walker. I sadly lost Molson in January 2022, and my heart is broken. I loved this dog and he was my introduction to so many sports and friends that are now considered family. I will never be able to fully express everything that this dog meant to me, and I hope he is running free, swimming for his ball in the pond on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge. |
