Well 2 weeks to the day after losing Shadow, we now say goodbye to Titan, our loving, goofy old boy. Titan came to our family as a breeder return/rescue. He was an underweight and extremely food-aggressive (related to the underweight thing...), 8 year old - but we diligently worked with him and got him rehabilitated successfully. We got to experience Titan in all his goofy sweetness for 7 years and he really was a Titan in everything that he did. Titan knew how to open paddle handle doors, so when he moved in with Dad, Dad had to replace all of the handles on exterior doors. Then we learned that he also had the talent to open round door handles, so after going to play with the Hydro linesman, Dad installed deadbolts on all exterior doors. That seemed to keep that silly boy contained. Titan enjoyed long walks in the forest with Dad and his best buddy Shadow. He loved swimming, and was happy and demanding until his last moments. He smiled and had the quirkiest grin he would show everyone he could, teeth mostly gone and two wrinkled ears. Although he was very much still present, despite selective deafness (he could hear you open the cookies, but not if you called his name), his body in the end betrayed him, and we made the choice to help him cross with dignity. Titan helped to raise Molson, and also Vedder, although all of the puppies learned his bark was worse than his “bite” – because he never followed through they took full advantage of him. He snuggled with the cats, and was always hanging out with Dad – who was his person. He always wanted to know where Dad was, and nothing made him happier than getting to go for a ride in the truck. Rest in Peace Titan – September 24, 2002 – October 10, 2017. Shadow is waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge, buddy, and she will be ready to keep you company (and in line) over there.
